Florida State Opens NCAA Regional Versus Dartmouth at Home

The No. 9 national seed Florida State softball team (45-12) will start the 2015 NCAA Softball Championships at home against Dartmouth (25-16) on May 15 at 7 PM. It is the second-straight time and sixth overall that the Seminoles are hosting the opening round of the NCAA tournament.

Joining FSU and Dartmouth in Tallahassee will be UCF (48-7) and South Carolina (37-20). The Knights and Gamecocks will play their first game on May 15 at 4:30 PM. All games of the 2015 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will be shown on ESPN3.

The Noles enter the regional off of their second-straight ACC Championship, defeating Boston College, NC State and Pitt to earn FSU’s 13th conference title in school history. It marks the 16th consecutive season that Florida State has reached the regional round and FSU is one of nine schools to make the NCAA tournament every year since 2000.

Florida State’s challengers, Dartmouth, won its second Ivy League title in 2015 and will be making its second straight trip to the NCAA Championships. This will be the first meeting between Dartmouth and Florida State.

The three-day, double-elimination NCAA Tallahassee Regional will continue on May 16 and 17, with the first game each day starting at 12 PM The winner of the 2015 NCAA Tallahassee Regional will match up with the winner of the Knoxville Regional in the NCAA Super Regional round on May 21-24.
